Kadam Morten Clausen
Kadam Morten is the principal teacher of Chakrasambara Buddhist Center. He has been a close disciple of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for nearly twenty years and has studied directly with this great Buddhist master. Born in Denmark in 1962, Kadam Morten was raised in Denmark, Switzerland and the United States. After graduating with Honors from York University in England he met his Spiritual Guide, Geshe Kelsang, and began studying Kadampa Buddhism. He has taught at numerous meditation centers and helped develop Madhyamaka Center into one of the foremost Buddhist Teacher Training Colleges in Europe. He has taught at universities, schools, hospitals, conferences, as well as the New York Open Center, the Learning Annex and the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY. In 1994 Geshe Kelsang Gyatso requested that Kadam Morten move to the United States, where he established two centers, Chakrasambara Center in New York City, and Vajrayogini Center in Washington DC. Since 1998 he has devoted himself exclusively towards developing Buddhism in the New York area, building up Chakrasambara Center and establishing branch Centers in Manhattan, Westchester, and Long Island. With 18 years of teaching experience in Europe and the US Kadam Morten is known for his clarity, humor and inspirational presentations. He is knowledgeable in all aspects of Buddhist practice, psychology and philosophy. A much loved teacher known for his gentle and joyful approach, he has brought wisdom and benefit into the lives of many. Hundreds of New Yorkers can attest to the power and practicality of his teachings.

Dr. Peter Kurczynski
Peter, meditation teacher, and long term student of of Kadam Morten. He is an insightful and humorous teacher. He demonstrates through his own example how to integrate Buddha's teachings into our everyday life.

Holly McGregor
Holly has been studying and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for five years with Kadam Morten. She is admired for the clarity and heart with which she teaches. As a shiatsu practitioner, Holly is much loved for her healing manner.

Sam Stokes
Sam Stokes, a manage-ment consultant who lives and
works in the city. He has been practicing meditation for many years and is a senior student at Chakrasambara Center.


Michelle Valladares
Michelle is a poet, filmmaker and writing teacher. She coordinates the spiritual programs at Chakrasambara Buddhist Center.

Sarah Loveland Bell
Sarah is a local musician,teacher and healer. She has been practicing meditation for many years and is a senior student at Chakrasambara Center

Lisa Baumgartner
Lisa is a public relations consultant who lives in Carroll Gardens. She has been practicing meditation for a number of years and spent the last year living at a large Buddhist Teacher¹s college in England.

Russell O. Jones
Russell is the creative director of an internet company and a professor of design and illustration. He oversees the design for many Chakrasambara publications and its website. A father of two, he is very experienced in integrating Buddhist meditation into the demands of everyday life. He has studied meditation for five years.

 

Trevel Balser and Bogi Birgisson
Bogi and Trevel have been practicing meditation for several years and are senior students at Chakrasambara Center. They are both Staten Island residents.
