A Message From Kadam Morten

Dear Friends,

We recently received the news that our landlords are returning to New York City and will not be renewing our lease, so we have to move out by June 10th. Geshe Kelsang has recently been encouraging centers to lease or buy commercial properties. In America this model works better than the residential center model, since it is clear that a center, like a church, belongs to all the members equally. We were already in the process of seeking a commercial property for our new center when we received the news that we had to move, so this is now a rallying call. We don't need to think too grandiose at the moment; we simply need to find something that will serve our present needs. We need to lease an affordable space that can function as our meditation room and office. It needs to be in an accessible location. It could be a storefront, a loft or an office space. The key thing is that there be no lapse between the dissolution of our current space and the arising of our new center. With the current level of enthusiasm and participation in the center's activities, it would be a shame if the center were to be without a home - even if only temporarily. This is an opportunity for us to help ourselves and to help others. If everyone puts in energy, I am sure the right space will manifest. Geshe Kelsang always says, ÒTry and don't worry.Ó And he always encourages us to act with a pure motivation. We are creating this center for others. It just so happens that we will enjoy the benefits, too!
