Freedom from Painful Emotions
with guest teachers
During our summer term, we will be focusing on Buddha’s illuminating teachings on the delusions and how to overcome them. According to Buddha our suffering comes about due to the uncontrolled and painful states of mind known as the delusions. In each session we will focus on how to deal with a particular delusion, among them, desirous attachment, anger, deluded pride, jealousy, and miserliness. Learning practical methods to reduce the power of these delusions will allow us to experience a deep and satisfying emotional freedom, and give us the skill to be the person we wish to be, positive, joyful, confident and loving. Everyone welcome.

Free Talk and Guided Meditation
Meditation and the Art of Happiness
with Kadam Morten
Thursday Sept. 16, 7 - 9 PM (free)
At Chakrasambara Buddhist Center, 322 8th Ave. Suite 502
Within our mind lies an extraordinary potential for inner peace and happiness. Through the simple practice of meditation we can learn to access that potential. In meditation we learn to let go of the agitated states of mind, such as anger, that produce unhappiness, and instead to cultivate peaceful, creative minds such as love, acceptance, wisdom and joy. What’s more we learn to transform our day-today experiences, especially our conflicts and problems, into opportunities for developing these joyful minds. In this way we learn the art of happiness and the special skill of creating a joyful life.
This free talk will include two guided meditations and a chance to ask questions. Pre-registration not nessesary. Everyone is welcome.

The Power of Enlightenment
We often feel stuck within our sense of our limitations and feel that real change of our relationships and our lives isn't possible. But it is possible. Within our minds, waiting to be discovered, is an extraordinary treasure. This treasure is our potential for enlightenment - a state of limitless joy, freedom, love, compassion, and wisdom. Buddha taught a method known as Mahamudra (bliss and emptiness) to enable us to connect directly and swiftly to our potential for enlightenment. Through relating to our limitless potential, our life becomes a path towards enlightenment. Mahamudra heals us at profound levels, freeing us from the painful experiences and tendencies of the past, and giving us the mental equilibrium to make the most of our life in the present.
Based on the Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's book Mahamudra Tantra, Kadam Morten will guide us to connect to the power within our own minds, as well as within the enlightened mind of Buddha. This meditation allows us to access the blissful and healing resources of the enlightened mind, greatly empowering our spiritual practices and daily activities.
